MILLER CO., EDWARD
This business was started by Horatio N. Howard in 1844. One year later it was sold to Edward Miller. Edward Miller & Co., a corporation was organize in 1866, with a capital of $200,000 [...] and have since 1885 been the manufacturers of that well known lamp the "Rochester," and now are putting upon the market the crowning effort in the line of great lamps, "The Miller," [...] The factory turns out immense quantities of lamp goods and trimmings of every description, brass kettles and numerous small articles are also made. A Rolling mill is connected with the factory [...] One of the best equipped Brass Foundries in the State forms part of the plant, and altogether the business gives employment to about 700 persons. [...] Its officers at present are, President, Edward Miller; Secretary and Treasurer, Edward Miller, Jr.; Assistant Treasurer, Benj. C. Kennard; Superintendant, R.T. Lattin; Assistant Superintendent, Arthur E. Miller.’

New buildings were added, new departments were started, and new stores were opened at 56-58 Park Place and 51-53 Barclay Street in New York City. Stores were opened in Boston (at 38 Pearl Street) and in Chicago, and salesrooms were opened in Philadelphia and San Francisco..."
