"Simeon L. [Rogers] of the silverware firm of S. L. and G. H. [Rogers], who was stricken with apoplexy... died late this afternoon. Excitement due to a suit now pending in the United States district court at Hartford, which was brought by the International Silver company... is thought to have been the cause of the shock... The company states... that in May, 1899, it became owners of the Meriden Britannia company and the William Rogers Manufacturing company, including the trademarks of the companies. It claims that the defendants are selling silverware under the trademark of ’Rogers Brothers’ and ’Rogers’ similar to those of the company..." (Excerpt from above.)
