Kelsey Press Co. press

Above, patent illustration showing Charles W. Glasnapp’s design for a printing press for Kelsey Press Company (20 March 1928, letters patent no. 1,663,197). For more information, see listing below.

"[William A. Kelsey] was 21 when he finally made the venture. He called it the "Excelsior"... As time went on foot power presses were added... The business was a success from the start, and the native advertising genius of Mr. Kelsey caused it to expand very rapidly. It was not, however, incorporated until 1905, when it did so as The Kelsey Press Company... "

"... It issues a Spanish catalog, and handles Spanish correspondence in its own office... Kelsey Presses have been carried by a llama over the Andes, and into the heart of the African jungle... Many times presses and equipment have been packed in boxes weighing not over 100 pounds so that they could be carried into the remote parts of the world on the backs of men and beasts..." [Excerpts from: (10 June 1930). Interesting Connecticut industry... The Kelsey Press Company... Hartford Courant, entry listed below.]
