Two MFA students: Venice Biennial 2009
Two American MFA students
try out their costumes in Venice.
Fortunately, both are on full scholarship, and there is already interest in their art by a few people attending the Biennial.
But many of their student-colleagues now have over USD$100,000 in student loan debt.
They are told to focus on the art...
And they are receiving little if any professional practice training... to fuel their talent on how to be in business as an artist, or to gain transferable skills if it doesn’t work out.
And with these kinds of loans...
they can’t ever file for bankruptcy on them...
Less than 5% will ever be able to make a living
by selling art, let alone be invited to any biennial...
With all of this creative energy, can’t we do better for the next generations?
This concludes the secret ADP report from Venice.
